Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) help satisfy local demand for services, offer local employment, and provide larger firms with inputs and services. Access to capital is often a major constraint for SMEs; Wave's mission is to fulfil this gap with a focus in Italy.

PMI are mostly diffused in the North West and North East areas of Italy. The region with the highest number of PMI is Lombardy, with the 20% of the manufacturing enterprises, followed by Veneto and Emilia Romagna.
